At ES Management, we are committed to addressing your efforts to reduce the environmental impact, conserving resources and improving the bottom line through efficient energy management. We are committed to help you achieve your ISO 50001 cost effectively. Because at ES, we believe, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION shouldn’t be expensive.
ISO 14001:2015 is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type and nature, and applies to the environmental aspects of its activities, products and services that the organization determines it can either control or influence considering a life cycle perspective. ISO 14001:2015 does not state specific environmental performance criteria.
The Carbon Footprint of a Product is the total of the greenhouse emissions generated during the life cycle assessment of a product—that is, from raw material acquisition or generation from natural resources to final disposal.
The GHG are considered all gaseous substances for which the IPCC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) has defined a global warming potential coefficient. They are expressed in mass-based CO2 equivalents (CO2e), which is the unit of measurement in ISO 14067.
DESIGN + VERIFICATION + DOCUMENTATION
Criteria 1
Covers design, development, management, reporting and verification of an organisation’s Green House Gases (GHG) inventory. Specifies principles and requirements at the organisation level for quantification and reporting of GHG emissions and removals.
QUANTIFICATION + DIAGNOSITCS + CARBON CREDIT OFFSETS
Criteria 2
Adequately address offset carbon credits and innovative technology projects, that support multiple Green House Gases (GHG) project types. The second part specifies principles and requirements, and provides guidance at the project level for quantification, monitoring and reporting of activities intended to cause GHG emission reductions or removal enhancements.
MONITORING + VALIDATION + IMPLEMENTATION
Criteria 3
Specifies principles and requirements and guides those conducting or managing the validation and/or verification of GHG assertions. It can be applied to organisational or GHG project quantification, monitoring and reporting.
Complete a Quote Request Form so that we can understand your company and requirements. You can do this by completing either the online quick quote or the online formal quote request form.
We will use this information to accurately define your scope of assessment and provide you with a proposal for certification.
Once you’ve agreed your proposal, we will contact you to book your assessment with an ES Management Assessor. This assessment consists of two mandatory visits that form the Initial Certification Audit.
Please note that you must be able to demonstrate that your management system has been fully operational for a minimum of three months and has been subject to a management review and full cycle of internal audits.
Following a successful two stage audit, a certification decision is made by an external auditor, then certification to the required standard is issued by ES Management.
You will receive both a hard and soft copy of the certificate. Certification is valid for three years and is maintained through a programme of annual surveillance audits and a three yearly recertification audit.
In response to the need for transparency about the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of products, several methodologies were developed at different points in time and by different organizations. And the ISO 14067 standard is built largely on other existing ISO standards for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and was published in 2018.
Among the different methodologies, the ISO14067 can be considered the international reference standard for conducting Product Carbon Footprints (PCF) because it can be considered as an all-rounder. Results for the carbon footprint will vary widely depending on what is included when making the calculations, and the methodology.
The standard clarifies the GHG assessment, providing specific requirements in the life cycle assessment (LCA) approach, choosing system boundaries and simulating use and end-of-life phases when quantifying Carbon Footprint of a Product (CFP).
Enhance the environmental integrity of greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification.
Customers are seeking products with a lower carbon footprint and expect organisations to have measures and plans in place to reduce GHG emissions. In relation to products and services, this journey starts with establishing the carbon footprint, before having it independently verified.
Facilitate the ability to track performance and progress in the reduction of GHG emissions and/or increase in GHG removals.
It can be difficult for businesses to differentiate between products according to their carbon footprint, an independent assurance statement increases visibility and gives confidence that data is accurate and reliable.
Both internal and external stakeholders are looking for accurate, transparent information to help them make purchasing decisions about their products.
ES MANAGEMENT verification of PCF can reveal inefficiencies, waste, data gaps, errors or misstatements in a process that identifies cost savings and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Cradle-to-grave: includes the emissions and removals generated during the full life of cycle of the product.
- Cradle-to-gate: includes the emissions and removals up to where the product leaves the organization.
- Gate-to-gate: includes the emissions and removals that arise in the supply.
- Chain Partial CFP: includes the emissions and removals that come only from specific stages.
Carbon footprint is becoming popular among companies to differentiate their products in a competitive market, hence the importance of the communication of this measurement.
ISO 14067 makes a valuable contribution to GHG quantification, allowing a transparent communication and comparison of CFPs made among identical quantification and communication requirements.
